Interim Economic Development Staff Support
The Need
In a matter of weeks, the entire Economic Development team for the City of Janesville resigned. In order to keep the projects currently underway moving, and to field development questions, Redevelopment Resources was called to act as the Interim Economic Development Team. Our engagement with the City lasted five and a half months when they hired a new Department Director.
Highlights
The City of Janesville is an economic development powerhouse that had several projects ready to go to Council for approval and many others in the pipeline. Redevelopment Resources staff had previous working experience in the city which helped facilitate relationships with staff, council members and developers.
Impact
With the assistance of the entire development team (past and present), we provided project oversight, coordination meeting attendance, and document preparation to ensure that:
- 602 jobs were created and/or retained
- 920,000 SF of real estate was approved for re/development
- $46.2M was guaranteed in real property assessed value
- TID 39 was created
